JEBEL EL KEST GUIDED SUMMIT DAY
A journey to the highest mountain in this region rewards those who try with unrivalled views of the Anti-Atlas range and vast arid landscapes in all directions. Our qualified and experienced mountain guides have knowledge of several traditional routes to the summit and can advise on the best trail to take depending on previous experience and fitness levels.
Commencing in Tafraout, you will transported to start point in one of the high mountain villages on the south side of the range via mountain roads that defy belief (not for the faint hearted). From here our walk begins, ascending through terraced hillside to pick up ancient but indistinct trade routes which ascend steep rocky valleys towards high mountain pastures and mountain cols. Access to the summit is gained via non technical but steep rocky terrain weaving its way towards the summit plateau. The summit boasts incredible views in all directions and we’ll spend plenty of time here to soak in the views, get those all important summit pics and refuel for the equally challenging descent.
Regardless of which route is taken, this hike involves an elevation gain of around 1000m, therefore a good level of fitness is required in order to complete this challenging but very rewarding day walk.
